Did Zayn Malik rip off Lil Wayne’s album cover?
Zayn, who is dropping his last name Malik, has released his debut solo album cover. His fans should be thrilled. But according to Mail Online, they were not too happy.
Zayn’s debut cover art features him as a child covered with his present day tattoos. Fans should have been gushing over his cuteness and spunk. Instead, they are slamming him for ripping off rapper Lil Wayne’s past album art.

They were reportedly calling him out for his “lack of originality.” Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter III” and “Tha Carter IV” also featured him as a child with his present day tattoos. Could this be an homage? Or could this be a mere coincidence?
According to Billboard, Zayn is on the defensive regarding this matter. He vehemently denies ripping off Lil Wayne.
“I’m not tryna be no rapper, my album is me [as] a child .. My ideas have been with me a long time,” he wrote on Twitter. “Use your brain, appreciate art don’t discriminate what you don’t understand,” he added.
Meanwhile, “Pillowtalk,” his first single off his debut album, recently made US Billboard history. The song made him the first UK artist to debut at No. 1 in Billboard Hot 100. This is a feat his former band, One Direction, has never achieved.
Zayn first performed his second single, “It’s You,” after the Grammys on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. His first album, “Mind of Mine,” is expected to be released on March 25. The date marks his first year as a solo artist. He left One Direction early last year.
Zayn and former bandmate Harry Styles were also recently spotted at the same pre-Grammys event. They were not photographed together. However, they reportedly “did a lot of dodging and avoiding at the party.”
