Xiaomi’s latest affordable smartphone in the Redmi series, the Redmi 3, is out of the veil. This time around, Xiaomi has dropped the plastic unibody for metal, and sure looks good. The smartphone comes with a 4,100mAh battery, which is claimed by Xiaomi to deliver 80 percent more talk-time than the Redmi 2. The device has a stark resemblance with the Apple iPhone 6.

Treading the same path as many of the previous smartphones by Xiaomi, the Redmi 3 comes with dual-SIM connectivity. The device was unveiled in China for 99 yuan, which is approximate $105, £75 and AU$155. Unfortunately, the device is currently limited to China, though we expect Xiaomi to release availability details for other regions too.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 has got a nice outlook, unlike its predecessor, which lacked the premium feel. A welcoming change brought by Xiaomi to make lower-end phones a little better to hold, thanks to the full metal unibody. The smartphone features a 5-inch HD IPS display, and runs on MIUI 7, which is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. Moreover, the Redmi 3 features 4,000mAh battery with fast charging, 16GB internal storage. It is Hybrid dual-SIM, which means that the users can use the second SIM card for microSD card to expand the storage up to 128GB. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset paired with 2GB of RAM. There is a 13-megapixel rear camera onboard with LED flash, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), that can focus in just 0.1 seconds, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Now, coming on to the connectivity features that are offered by the Redmi 3. The device supports 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and GLONASS. It will be available in Dark Grey, Silver, Gold and Classic Gold color variants. Lately, Xiaomi has lost its special streak, and has become just like any other manufacturer from China. The company has seen a marked growth in its venture phase, but it is now witnessing a downfall, at least in terms of shipments.
