As the only judge left from the “X Factor” Australia 2015 lineup, Guy Sebastian shared his excitement about the changes on the show with the entrance of rapper Iggy Azalea. In doing so, this question takes center stage: Did he just throw shade at his fellow judges from last season?
The Australian singer/songwriter said he doubted the panel’s lineup and cited their lack of chemistry on the show, The Daily Telegraph writes.
“I’m not sure if we had the right panel last year, that we had the right chemistry, it just didn’t quite feel like it gelled so I think the change is good,” Sebastian said. Dannii Minogue, Chris Isaak and James Blunt will not return to the latest season of “X Factor” Australia.
This will be Sebastian’s fifth year with the reality competition show where he’s mentored two winners Reece Mastin in 2011 and Samantha Jade in 2012, Yahoo TV recalled. Sebastian is not only a respected artist, but also the “favorite guy” on the show, Yahoo TV wrote in a separate post.
“Guy is such a seasoned artist with undisputed chart success; he also knows a star when he sees one. We can’t wait to see what he brings to this new season,” the publication quoted Channel Seven’s Director of Production Brad Lyons. Sebastian is excited about what’s new on the show like the judges and possibly, the categories.
“It will be quite a different show. There’s not only the reveal of the judges and who they are but also possible changes to the judging and how that happens, possible changes to the categories and how they happen. I don’t know the fine details yet but there will be a lot of changes but the core of my job stays the same in that I’m there to mentor,” Sebastian told the publication. He also praised the addition of Iggy Azalea as a judge since she’s a model for aspiring Australian singers, Mail Online reported.
“I’m excited about Iggy on the panel, I think she is going to be fiery and she’s got really nothing to prove,” Sebastian revealed. However, his revelations come with the bittersweet announcement of this year’s shortened “X Factor” Australia in light of the 2016 Summer Olympics coverage, the publication noted.
Sources earlier hinted that Cheryl Fernandez-Versini might return to “X Factor” Australia as a judge. Her alleged comeback could possibly bring her rumored boyfriend One Direction member Liam Payne Down Under for his own seat on the panel. Sebastian could only tease about the remaining unknown judges who he described as “very famous” and “very good singers” during a guest appearance on Sunrise.
