Will Roman Reigns’ 30-day suspension remove him from WWE Battleground altogether? If Seth Rollins had his way, this situation would certainly be possible.
Wrestlezone reports that in Monday night’s WWE Raw, Rollins didn’t hold back in expressing how embarrassed he was with Reigns’ violation. The site further detailed that Rollins demanded for Reigns’ removal from the main event of WWE Battleground.
Heavy lists the main details of WWE Battleground 2016. The match, which features a triple threat main event between Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins, happens on July 24. The show unfolds at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. and begins at 7 p.m. EST/ 4 p.m. PST.
Rollins’ demand of removing Reigns from the match has its implications on the upcoming event.
WWE Battleground and its possibilities
However, though Rollins was strongly against Reigns’ inclusion in Battleground, third man Ambrose felt differently.
As per Ryan Glasspiegel of The Big Lead, the WWE champion was “down with the triple-threat match continuing as scheduled.” However, the intensity of the night didn’t end there.
The site recaps that following Rollins’ demand and Ambrose’s opposing view, AJ Styles offered himself to be the third person instead. However, Ambrose disagreed to this. Styles, with no intention of giving up, suggested a Fatal Four-Way to which Ambrose finally agreed.
The Big Lead details, however, that this idea didn’t sit well with Rollins.
Battleground with a chance of Cena & Styles
Fox Sports adds that following Styles, John Cena also offered his name to be part of the WWE Battleground main event. This raises the possibility of a five-way match. Whether or not that case happens remain to be seen.
For now, what remains uncertain is whether Reigns’ suspension would really affect his involvement with WWE Battleground. With the event less than a month away, a decision is needed soon.
Interestingly, Fox Sports offers a meaty possibility regarding the whole Reigns drama. The site’s thought can be seen below.
“Many fans speculated that Reigns’ suspension might just be a “work,” or part of the storyline, and WWE using the suspension as a story peg certainly lends credence to that theory.”
