A DC comics writer recently dropped quite a bombshell, confirming that Wonder Woman is bisexual. What has turned this superhero into a bisexual character? Here is the theory offered by the writer.
Who is Wonder Woman?
She is a daring female superhero introduced in American comic books published by DC Comics. She is also a founding member of the Justice League, demigoddess and warrior princess of the Amazons. All of these are based on the Amazons of Greek mythology.
Why is she gay?
Wonder Woman aka Princess Diana of Themyscira is from the fictional nation of Themyscira. This is a land where women thrived apart from the hostile, male-dominated world. Wonder Woman’s homeland is blessed by the Olympian Gods, and no man is allowed to physically set foot on it. Since she belongs to an all-female island, it is quite obvious that she “has been in love and had relationships with other women.” This theory makes Wonder Woman’s bisexual orientation pretty convincing.
Greg Rucka’s Revelation!
Greg Rucka, the writer for DC Universe Rebirth comic book series, has revealed that the female superhero belongs to the LGBT community. Rukka confirmed the news as DC celebrates the character’s 75th anniversary. The 46-year-old has been working on Wonder Woman Year One, digging deep into the character’s origin.
“Now, are we saying Diana has been in love and had relationships with other women? As Nicola (the comic book artist) and I approach it, the answer is obviously yes,” Rucka explained in an interview with Comicosity, reports Express.

Israeli actress and model Gal Gadot portrayed Wonder Woman in the 2016 film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. She is the one who brought the superheroine character to the silver screen after over 70 years of history. Gadot will also star in the character’s first solo live-action film Wonder Woman set to be released on June 2, 2017.
If the movie follows the DC comics newly revealed storyline, we might see a female love interest of Wonder Woman alongside Steve Trevor. Trevor is a United States intelligence officer who shares a romantic relationship with the Themyscira native.
As of now, there is a no word on how the big screen is going to portray the change. Whether or not the filmmakers will highlight the bisexual side of Wonder Woman is yet to be seen.
