Will Wolverine be absent from the upcoming “Wolverine 3” movie? Hugh Jackman earlier said that he is ready to retire as the iconic mutant. The actor did agree to do one more movie as Logan. But will studio executives decide to find his replacement sooner?

According to Super Hero Hype, X-23 will appear in the upcoming “Wolverine” sequel. Only serious comic book fans might be familiar with the mutant Laura Kinney/X-23. But, as Collider pointed out, X-23 is important because she took over for Wolverine after – spoiler alert! – Wolverine died in the comics. Her introduction in “Wolverine 3” might mean something bigger for the “X-Men” movie.

It was earlier reported that “X-Men” director Bryan Singer thought it might be difficult to recast Jackman as Wolverine. Aside from Professor Charles Xavier, Wolverine is the only other mutant to make an appearance in all previous “X-Men” films. Will they decide to introduce fans to Wolverine’s replacement instead? Are they willing to faithfully follow the comic books? Will X-23 really make her debut in “Wolverine 3?” Is she getting ready to step in for Wolverine? No word as of yet to confirm these bits of info. Just stay tuned for the updates.

The “X-Men” star earlier said, “Wolverine 3” is the next and last time he will play the clawed mutant. Meanwhile, another mutant movie, “X-Men: Apocalypse” is set to hit theatres soon. Jackman denied rumours that he will make a surprise appearance in the movie. But it has still been speculated that his character will at least have an uncredited cameo in it.

For over 15 years, Jackman has appeared on screen as Wolverine in seven films. These films include “X-Men,” “X2: X-Men United,” “X-Men: The Last Stand,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” “The Wolverine,” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” He also made an uncredited cameo in “X-Men: First Class.”
