Author George R.R. Martin has been coy about the Winds of Winter release date. But the novelist hinted more deaths in the upcoming book.

Fans have been waiting for around five years for the novel to come out. Since it is already the last month of 2016, the readers can only assume that the book will be out some time next year.

But to ease the agony of waiting for the Winds of Winter release date announcement, Martin discloses some juicy information about the book which the readers might love.

The writer stated during his appearance at the Guadalajara International Book Fair that the novel will be darker than the previous ones. Movie Pilot quoted him while saying:

“There are a lot of dark chapters right now in the book that I’m writing. It is called The Winds of Winter, and I’ve been telling you for 20 years that winter was coming.

“Winter is the time when things die, and cold and ice and darkness fill the world, so this is not going to be the happy feel-good that people may be hoping for. Some of the characters [are] in very dark places.”

Although Martin gave a fair share of insights, the readers are yet to assume that he will be surprising us with the Winds of Winter release date announcement. He did not write it on his blog, but we were quite sure that he’s not finished with the book yet.

“This is my last scheduled event for 2016. My appearance schedule for 2017 is very limited and will remain so until WINDS is completed. So if you want to meet me or get a book signed, this will be the last chance for a good few months…” Read his full blog here.
