No one is ever safe in “The Walking Dead.” The series has been known to kill off fan favorites since it first premiered six years ago. If there’s one character people expect would survive until the very end, however, it’s Rick. Will the upcoming season shatter this expectation from fans? Will Rick really be Negan’s first victim?
Rick is the protagonist of the show’s source material. But, according to Collider, it’s possible that he is going to die at the hands of Negan when Season 7 rolls out. Or at least, the show’s producers have already filmed his death scene.
The series’ sixth season ended with a pretty huge cliffhanger. Negan was about to kill a person from Rick’s group with his baseball bat, Lucille. Fans have been doing everything they can to find who perished in that episode. Some even go as far as staking out at the show’s filming locations. However, if the Hollywood Reporter is right, they will be having a harder time figuring out which character Negan chose to kill.
“Each of the cast members involved in the scene have already filmed a death scene,” a source told THR. There were ten other characters with Rick that night. So they shot 11 death scenes for each of the cast members present. The cast and crew went through all this trouble in order to keep the identity of Negan’s first kill under wraps.
Showrunner Scott M. Gimple earlier explained their decision to shoot that many versions of the same scene. “With the advent of drones, it can become such a game of cat and mouse that as far as sneaking a peek at the actors walking to set, we want to just keep our actors safe and the people who might be looking safe,” he told THR.
“The Walking Dead” Season 7 is set to return on AMC this October.
