Maxim commits blunder at its maximum with Joan Smalls!

Smalls, an established name for  the crowning lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret, expressed her annoyance at popular men’s magazine Maxim. The reason was more-than-unexpected especially from an elite publication like Maxim. They captioned her name on someone else’s photograph.

Last weekend, the Puerto Rican supermodel took it to Snapchat to snap back at Maxim. The magazine confused her with another Victoria’s Secret model, Lais Ribeiro.

In a (now-expired) Snapchat video on Smalls’ account, the 27-year-old added a photo published in the magazine that was captioned with her name. Her word of warning to Maxim reads out: “get [their] shit together,” reports Page Six.

Joan Smalls made her way to modeling  after graduating with a psychology degree in her native Puerto Rico. She then moved to New York to pursue her profession. Her first major modeling contract was with Elite in 2007.

Currently represented by IMG, Smalls has modeled in print campaigns. She has also walked for brands like of Versace, Prada, Chanel, Alexander Wang and Marc Jacobs. Since 2011, Smalls has been the face of Estee Lauder. This makes her the very first Latina model presenting the brand. Forbes listed  her as the world’s 8th highest paid model in 2013.

On the contrary, Lais Ribeiro is a Brazilian model. According to Mail Online, she has modeled on the runway for brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Marc Jacobs. Her journey from a teen-mother to the ramp of Victoria’s Secret is no less than a fairytale. Born in Teresina, Piauí, and grew up in a remote rural town in Brazil, the young supermodel never thought of becoming a model until she was 18.

There is no denying that these two Victoria’s Secret supermodels hold facial resemblance, but for a renowned magazine like Maxim, mixing them up is  an act of absolute carelessness.
