Will “Vampire Diaries” end after season 7? Ian Somerhalder’s recent social media posts hinted at the show’s cancellation.

However, Somerhalder cleared up the rumours. He clarified the fate of the series remains unknown, ET Online reported earlier.

The actor also shared, “We just want to get through this year and make it good and we’ll see what comes about, that’s all we’re trying to do, but you’ll be the first to know.”

TVD executive producer Julie Plec also weighed in on the show’s future, Just Jared reported. Plec shared her thoughts about season 8, taking into account the shift in the show’s schedule to Friday nights.

Plec wrote, “Well I sure hope so! I know we have a very large crew and cast of people who really want to be doing what we love on this show next year, so keep your fingers crossed.”

If “Vampire Diaries” season 8 does not push through, would “The Originals” end too?

Plec said, “No, it won’t”.

“The Originals are here to stay as long as you’ll have us. Also, if and when TVD ends, it would be fun to see some of our favorites from Mystic Falls find their way to NOLA,” she added. Nola is short for New Orleans, Louisana.

To date, “Vampire Diaries” has found success following Nina Dobrev’s departure, the Inquisitr reported.

Its highly anticipated crossover with “The Originals” airs on February 26.

The episode entitled “Moonlight on the Bayou” finds Stefan in New Orleans where he is reunited with Klaus.
Plec also hinted about a reunion between Klaus and Caroline.

Christian Today revealed more spoilers for the episode. The website revealed the pregnant Caroline would decide if she stays in Mystic Falls or goes to Dallas with Alaric.

CarterMatt reported Caroline is considering the move to start a new life. Her focus is to ensure the babies’ welfare.

Stefan understands his girlfriend’s situation. However, it does not make the separation easier, the website added.
