“The Vampire Diaries” actor Ian Somerhalder allegedly makes a big TV mistake by accidentally stating that Season 8 will be the finale of the show. As a result, fans are shocked and waiting for another statement confirming if what he said was true.
Somerhalder made the announcement during his interview with Walker Stalker Con in Nashville, notes Entertainment Weekly. “We have decided to do one last season to really do the story justice,” he reportedly said.

“Somehow in my infinite wisdom and end-of-season foggy brain, I managed to make it sound like the show was coming to an end,” Somerhalder’s another statement, quotes TV Line. “Cut to the press running stories that the show would be done after Season 8,” he added.
On the other hand, Inquistr noted that he might just want to hint that Season 8 will be his last. By analyzing his comments, the website stated that he might be done for the upcoming season due to the fact that Kat Graham is about to exit the show as well.
“Season 8 will be my last season,” Graham shared, quotes TV Guide. “I just hope that whatever I do after, the crew can come with me. … The crew is going to be the hardest thing to let go because we are a family.”
Inquistr further speculated that Season 8 might be the last for “The Vampire Diaries” since some of the cast are leaving the show. Notably, the ratings allegedly decreased since Nina Dobrev left the series after Season 6.
Will Ian Somerhalder say goodbye to his avid supporters? Fans may cross their fingers while waiting for updates. “The Vampire Diaries” airs every Friday nights on The CW.
