Is Ian Somerhalder leaving “Vampire Diaries”? Is “Vampire Diaries” season 7 the last season?
The “Vampire Diaries” star spoke recently with ET. Somerhalder said, “It’s something that everyone is talking about and there is a lot of speculation about it because we’re so far into it”.
“I’ll be honest with you, right now we’re just trying to get through this one and just make this a really, really good season of television.”
He added, “We just want to get through this year and make it good and we’ll see what comes about. That’s all we’re trying to do, but you’ll be the first to know.”
Julie Plec, co-creator of the series, spoke earlier with E News on the show’s fate.
“I finally realised that my destiny on this show, creatively, is tied in to Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley. And I mean that in a really good way,” Plec explained.
She added, “As long as those boys who I now consider my friends want to keep telling the story, then I won’t walk away from telling the story.”
For season 7, Somerhalder assumed a directorial role again. He directed episode 716.
Aside from directing, he revealed he is busy hanging out with wife Nikki Reed and their babies. Somerhalder refers to the couple’s furry brood of dogs, cats and horses. However, he also revealed they are working on having a baby.
The second half of the series came out on January 29 with the episode “Hell is Other People.”
TV Guide spoke with actor Annie Wershing recently about what fans can expect for the second half of the season.
She revealed details about the huntress in “Vampire Diaries” season 7. According to Wershing, “Pretty much everyone gets in her cross-hairs.”
She added, “But anyone with the X scar on their body – it opens up for Stefan as you can see in the flash-forwards – and she’s obviously hunting him. Stefan is the biggest goal for her that she’s trying to flush out.”
Leslie-Anne Huff plays the vampire huntress in Vampire Diaries season 7. She has been formally introduced in episode 12 “Postcards from the Edge”.
