The fate of the “Vampire Diaries” lays in the hands of none other than the Salvatore brothers – Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley.
The show is in its 7th Season and co-creator Julie Plec has thought about how she would want the show to wrap-up. She has also probably decided upon how it should all come together towards the end. But there is a small twist to the tale; she says that the decision rests upon the brothers.
She shared with E! News, “I finally realized that my destiny on this show, creatively, is tied in to Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley. And I mean that in a really good way,” she explains. “As long as those boys who I now consider my friends want to keep telling the story, then I won’t walk away from telling the story.”
Plec revealed that she would be “done too” with the show, when Somerhalder and Wesley say it’s time. She added, “When they are ready to be done telling the story, I will put my pencil down and say that I’m done too, and then we will work together to end it in the best way possible. There’s always things that could go wrong in that scenario, there’s always pressure that can be put on, but…the three of us I’d like to think will make the creative decision of when the show should be over.”
Just when fans couldn’t think of how the show would proceed without Elena Gilbert, the Season 7 brought with it some major turns and kept the fans glued. However, the news about “Vampire Diaries” wrapping-up looms; TVD producer Caroline Dries also, shared in an interview with Collider how great it would be to have Nina Dobrev in the finale, if Season 7 were to be the last season.
Additionally, there have been rumours suggesting that the time slot being moved to Friday night could be another indication. Fans sure will be rooting for the show on for longer. We are keeping our fingers crossed.
Catch the “Vampire Diaries” on Friday nights at 8 p.m. on the CW.
