The second half of “Once Upon a Time” may still be far away but audience can now look forward to the new hurdle the Charmings will face when the show comes back on air in March. That big hurdle is none other than Hades, the god of the Underworld.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the confirmation came from series creator Adam Horowitz himself. In speaking of the character, EW quotes Horowitz in saying:

“We’re going to be meeting the Once Upon a Time version of Hades in the second half of the season. While he is both inspired by a myth and by the Disney movie version, as we like to do, we’re trying to create our own Once Upon a Time spin.”

Horowitz also reveals to EW that Hades is connected to another character from the show. Although fans would immediately think that the villain may be related to Regina (since the trend is the former Evil Queen has connections to almost everyone on the show), the series creator makes it clear that Hades is not related to anyone, just connected.

In addition to the character description, Hypable reports that the confirmation comes with saying that Greg Germann will indeed play Hades. The website recalls that prior to the official announcement, Germann’s casting on the show only labeled him as taking on the role of “Distinguished Gentleman”.

Hypable notes that Germann’s version of Hades will first appear on the series’ 100th episode.

However, although Hades is the main villain that Emma Swan and the Storybrooke gang are going to battle, the website reports that the group will have to face villains we have seen in the past including Cora (Barbara Hershey), Cruella de Ville (Victoria Smurfit), and Peter Pan (Robbie Kay).

Hypable also highlights that apart from Hades, Hercules and Megara are also set to make an appearance on “Once Upon a Time’s” second half.

It was previously revealed by Entertainment Tonight that Jonathan Whitesell from iZombie and Hannibal’s Kacey Rohl have been cast as Hercules and Megara, respectively.

“Once Upon a Time” stars Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Lana Parilla, Josh Dallas, Jared Gilmore, and Robert Carlyle.

The series is scheduled to return on air on March 16, 201, Sunday at 8 p.m. on Freeform (ABC Family).
