New Year produces new series of TV shows every time. So since 2016, another new year, has been welcomed by us, with all the parties already over, and assembling back to our habitual life, let’s check out what are hoarded for us to unwind ourselves after a long day’s work.

Here are the top TV shows to watch this 2016 in Australia.

1. Masterchef Australia (Channel Ten)

The TV shows would be incomplete without Masterchef Australia. Channel Ten (thank you!) is once again proudly presenting you Masterchef Australia series 8 this year. And guess who is going to appear in the kitchen with the big boys? Flying all the way from London, is none other than Nigella Lawson! Network Ten’s Chief Programming Officer, Beverley McGarvey has confirmed Lawson’s signing.

“We are very excited to have her,” Beverley said.

So are we!

Masterchef Australia will premier in May 2016.

2. Australian Survivor (Channel Ten)

The catchphrase of ‘The ultimate test of endurance, strength and cunning’, Channel Ten is presenting Australia with the International Survivor series in our own fashion. It is believed that the reality show will be recorded in an island called Pulau Tiga, in Malaysia. With the first two season being all distorted from what it was supposed to be, hopefully, this time, Channel Ten will be able to come up with something to prattle about! Let’s hope for the best!

3. Cleverman (ABC)

If you want to get absorbed in a fascinating TV series, then look forward to Cleverman. Set in the future, a species of non-humans (aliens?) will fight for survival against the humans, who would threaten to kill them. The future will show a combination of Indigenous culture and myths. Iain Glen of Game of Thrones will star among others.

4. Here Comes The Habibs (Channel Nine)

If you are up for some good laughs, keep an eye (or both) for Channel Nine’s Here Comes The Habibs. This family came from Lebanon, and settled in Australia’s Lakemba, until some good fortune stroke them. Moving to the wealthiest suburbs, Vaucluse, these Habibs will surely crack you up!

Meanwhile, Channel Nine has confirmed that this sitcom is their first local one in 15 years! Something definitely to look forward to!

5. Molly (Channel Seven)

Based on Ian “Molly” Meldrum, this miniseries is brimmed with songs and musical references, dating back to the 70s, 80s, and 90s!

6. The Kettering Incident (Foxtel)

The Kettering Incident shows mysterious disappearances of two girls 15 years apart, and somehow the cases are connected. A doctor tangles herself in this case, and it turns out to be quite scary. Certainly one of the most intriguing TV shows of 2016!

7. The Secret Daughter (Channel Seven)

Here is another musical TV series for you. Jessica Mauboy is starring as an Indigenous pub singer, who gets to meet a wealthy hotelier. What follows next is a series of events that will change her life for good.

8. The Wrong Girl (Channel Ten)

A romantic comedy show that will see how one girl faces serious dilemma in choosing between two men: one is the dream-come-true, Mr. Right, whereas, the other is everything-is-wrong-about-you, Mr. Wrong. Sounds funny? Stay tuned for Channel Ten.

9. Wanted (Channel Seven)

Wanted is a crime-thriller that will see two strangers destined in an uneventful crime that they did not commit. And they have to depend on each other as they escape from their destiny.

10. Wolf Creek (Stan)

Taken from the Australian horror film, Wolf Creek, this TV show is a spin-off of the movie itself. One of the lead characters, John Jarratt, is reprising his role again. The show will see how one girl survives her attacking murderer, escapes, and returns back to take revenge.

Tough list of TV shows, but hope you have selected yours by now!
