“Top Gun 2” is in the works and Justin Marks has just about started on the script. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed this and much more in an interview following a screening of the original “Top Gun.”

Bruckheimer was attending the screening of one of his most successful films, “Top Gun,” at The Heat Is On: A Jerry Bruckheimer Film Festival organised by The UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. The Festival celebrates the career of one of Hollywood’s most successful producer.

Bruckheimer, who has a number of hit TV shows and blockbuster movies to his credit, had earlier revealed that actor Tom Cruise was a part of “Top Gun 2,” informs Movie Hole. “You don’t make Top Gun without Tom Cruise!” revealed Bruckheimer. The publication also informs that the story will focus on the usage of military drones in the second installment.

“It’s a special film because of the fact that it highlights the military. It shows the best and the brightest of our country, the kids who go to war to protect our shores, to protect our freedoms and unfortunately sometimes have to give up their lives for our country,” he said about the original movie. “That is something where we inspired a lot of kids to join the military, through that movie. That’s kind of a good thing — we want the best and brightest out there,” he added.

“Top Gun” is considered as Cruise’s finest work and it would only be right if he is a part of the sequel. However, the actor is wary of all the CGI and wants to fly real jets while making the movie, states Metro.

“If I can figure it out, if all of us can figure it out, it’d be fun to do, I’d like to fly those jets again, but we got to do all the jets practical, no CGI on the jets,” he had told Extra way back in 2015. “I’m saying right now no CGI on the jets. If we can figure all that out, and the Department of Defense will allow us to do it, that would be fun,” he added.
