The first “Titanfall” easily made its mark in history as one of the most action-packed, yet unique and innovative face-paced first person shooters to come out in the gaming industry. With that said, hardcore fanatics of the title have been expecting a sequel. Respawn is eager to share more details, and it looks like “Titanfall 2” is confirmed to get a single player campaign, with a spin-off TV series likely on the way.
“Titanfall 2” lead writer Jesse Stern told Forbes that the game will be set in a world where science and magic meet. However, it will still remain “grounded, dirty, human, and real.” Stern and the Respawn’s development team had started working on the sequel in late 2014 after finishing up Titanfall’s DLC.
According to Stern, the shortcomings of the first “Titanfall” was that they did not have the means to tell everyone “here’s who you are, here’s where you are, and who’s around you.” “We knew all the answers, we just could not deliver it,” he added.
Back then, Respawn was a startup and didn’t have the resources to develop both a multi-player and a single-player version of “Titanfall.” However, after “Titanfall” reached 10 million individual users, the team then acquired the flexibility they needed in exploring the story they had originally intended to tell.
Moreover, Stern also discussed with Forbes that Respawn has partnered with Lionsgate TV to bring a spin-off TV series of the game. However, he notes that it would be very expensive. He later added that they are trying to find a way to “tell a story in the worlds” they want to be in as well as produce in the TV model.
“Titanfall” was exclusive to Microsoft’s gaming platforms, PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One because Electronic Arts, the game’s publisher, thought that they would dominate. Last year, Respawn founder and CEO Vince Zampella confirmed that instead of being exclusive, the game will be released on multiple platforms.
