The year end firing might not be a good start to the year 2016 for Chip Kelly. In an abrupt decision the Philadelphia Eagles have fired coach Chip Kelly which many would term as shocking. Who would have known that a fascinating career would end like this?

As per the NFL reports, the Eagle’s coach started his career with so much promise after having quite a successful stint in Philadelphia. The Eagles won 10 games in back-to-back seasons under Kelly which propelled them to new heights.

“We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward,” Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie was quoted as saying.

“I have made a decision to release Chip Kelly this evening,” Lurie said in a statement. “I spent the last three seasons evaluating the many factors involved in our performance as a team. As I watched this season unfold, I determined that it was time to make a change.”

As per the reports, this year’s offense became quite stale and predictable and the Eagles were left with 6-9 record this season.

NFL also posted that Offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur would be the interim head coach for the Week 17 game against the New York Giants.

Many speculated that former general manager Howie Roseman’s reduced role might have floored a conflict after Kelly got control of the personnel department last offseason.

It sure did look a pretty unfortunate turn of events as Kelly had two more years on his contract.

It would be interesting to note if Tim Tebow schedules a comeback to Eagles. Now when Kelly has been fired could he be given a second chance in Philadelphia?

Well, the speculations seem far fetched but we can’t rule out the possibility. Tim had an off-season stint with the Eagles back in August and was seen making significant strides to schedule his comeback to NFL.

Since Kelly was part of the personnel department, Roseman might want to rope in Tebow for a comeback.
