The Voice 2016 judges Miley Cyrus and Blake Shelton fought over a country artist as the blind audition continues.

Former country child singer Billy Gilman auditioned for The Voice’s new season. The four judges – Cyrus, Shelton, Adam Levine and Alicia Keys – were all impressed of his Adele’s When We Were Young rendition.

In a sneak peak, all judges turned their seats for Gilman. He received his first nod from Levine, followed closely by Cyrus. Before Gilman ended his piece, Shelton and Keys also turned their chairs around.

“When I was making my first album, that’s when ‘One Voice’ came out. It’s crazy, Billy, because you always wonder whatever happened to somebody. Now you’ve found your sound and where you belong musically. I’m happy for you, man,” Shelton said.

Cyrus then remembered Gilman and his One Voice video. The Wrecking Ball singer even mentioned a scene on a school bus and that Gilman had opened several shows for her father, Billy Ray Cyrus.  The singer then gave her convincing speech to get Gilman on her side and promised to help the young singer become the new Billy.

Gilman was only 11 when One Voice came out in 2000 and then climbed on Billboard‘s Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart. He was the youngest singer to have a Top 40 hit on the country charts. The song was nominated for two Grammys in 2000.

He recorded five albums in total – from 2000 to 2006, Hollywood Life noted. After One Voice, he made Dare to Dream in 2001 and it went Gold in the US.  It was followed by Music Through Heartsongs in 2003, Everything and More in 2005 and finally, Billy Gilman in 2006.
