The band also included a link to their official website–coldplay.com–bearing the announcement. However, even before Coldpplay’s actual performance, the annoncement added that fans will get to see the band prepare during the days leading to the Pepsi Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show.
In term’s of their preparation, the band’s website announcement can be quoted as follows:
“Chris is designing a show that will echo elements of the NFL’s On the Fifty campaign – honouring the past, recognising the present and looking ahead to the next 50 years.”
Meanwhile, before Coldplay was selected, CNN reports that Bruno Mars, Beyonce, and Maroon 5 were also considered to perform for the halftime show. Beyonce and Bruno Mars have performed for the event back in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
Before the big event, here is the list of Coldplay songs we want to hear:
- A Sky Full of Stars
- Adventure of a Lifetime
- Every Teardrop is a Waterfall
- Princess of China
- Viva La Vida
Coldplay’s style may be more on the melancholic side, but the above tracks are some of their upbeat songs and fan favorites that the audience may enjoy jamming to. Plus, Princess of China may just result to a surprise appearance from Rihanna, so that would be like hitting two birds with one stone.
You can also head on here to listen to some of the band’s top tracks and decide for yourself whether our list is suited for your taste or you want a list of different songs entirely.
Super Bowl 2016 is scheduled on February 7, 2016 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
