Will Harley Quinn star in her very own film soon? The iconic DC character will make her big screen debut in “Suicide Squad.” Will a solo movie be the next step?

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. might just be gearing up for a “Suicide Squad” spin-off that would star Harley Quinn. However, this would not be a solo movie for Joker’s frequent lady love. “Rather, it would focus on several of DC’s female heroes and villains,” the report clarified.

Which DC characters are set to join this Batman nemesis? Details about the project have yet to be released. But Batgirl, Poison Ivy, and Birds of Prey are rumoured to join in. The Hollywood Reporter also disclosed that the movie will be penned by a female writer. Her identity, however, remains under wraps.

Meanwhile, director David Ayer recently praised Margot Robbie for her performance as Harley Quinn. The role, Ayer told Vogue, demanded “a lot of heavy lifting for an actor. But she’s a tough girl. And she’s incredibly smart and mature beyond her years. She has ridiculous depth. She has never been coddled. She is very physically courageous. The things she was doing herself as far as stunts, you wouldn’t believe. There’s only a handful of actors who do that sort of work themselves.”

Robbie also recently talked to Vogue about her role. “She doesn’t even have superpowers,” the actress said. “She’s just a psychopath who runs around gleefully killing people. She finds joy in causing mayhem. Which makes her weirdly endearing and fun to watch.”

Can’t wait to see Robbie as Harley Quinn? Don’t hold your breath just yet. “Suicide Squad” is set to hit the big screen on August 5. The debut of her solo movie, on the other hand, has yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned for updates.
