Suicide Squad will finally hit theaters this week. Fans have waited for so long for this movie. However, do DC and Warner Bros. have more surprises in store for their fans this month? Did the movie’s producers really confirm a sequel for the movie about the “Worst Heroes Ever?”

Neither DC nor Warner Bros. has confirmed a follow-up for their upcoming movie. However, some of the film’s stars have already begun talking about possible story arcs for the sequel. Producers might have chosen the tagline “Worst Heroes Ever” to play on how this Squad‘s composed of criminals and villains. It might even sound fun and cheeky. But fans of the original comics know that it’s not entirely accurate.

One onscreen Suicide Squad member, in particular, Katana is neither a criminal nor a villain. Katana is one of DC’s most iconic super heroines, who volunteered to be part of the movie’s titular squad. And the actress who plays her, Karen Fukuhara, thinks her backstory deserves to be told.

DC’s upcoming movie didn’t exactly say much about Katana’s origins. The actress thinks future movies should work on changing that. “I’d like to explore where she’s from, what kind of training she comes from,” Fukuhara told “There’s so much story from the point of her husband’s death to her story leading up to Suicide Squad — that’s something that I’d love to show on the screen.”

Which movie could explore Katana’s origin story at length? The actress thinks it would be “awesome!” if her character got her very own standalone film. However, she said she remains open to the possibility of exploring her story in a sequel to their upcoming movie.

Meanwhile, Katana’s fellow Squad member, Harley Quinn will get her own solo movie soon.

Suicide Squad opens by the end of the week. Katana’s origin story might not have figured into the first movie. However, according to Cinema Blend, she did prove to be an invaluable player in the film overall, though.
