“Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” is getting an official makeover and the beloved “Star Wars” game is treated to an unreal Engine 4 remake.

“Apeiron” is the title of the reboot and it is being developed by Poem Studios with help from fans of the “Star Wars” RPG. The developers of the game have released initial pictures of the game and you can see a whole new world of missions, worlds and more.

While the legal boundaries of developing a game carrying the “Star Wars” brand name is being discussed, the developer of the game says that its development is totally fine. It  is selling the game that would be a problem. The team haven’t started accepting donations yet, according to Game Spot, but they are expecting monetary backing.

“We are looking to have a larger portion of the game finished and polished before there is any kind of monetary backing,” the developer wrote on the Apeiron website.

The pictures show areas Endar Spire and Tatooine and by the looks of it, the game looks fabulous. It shows a first person view of the environments.

The studio have been live streaming the game’s development on Twitch, and you can find all the further updates from there.

“Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” is a role-playing video game developed by BioWare and published by LucasArts. Written by Drew Karpyshyn, the game was released for Xbox and Windows in 2003. The game went on to make it to the Apple Store in 2013 and to the Google Play Store in 2014.

In November 2012, Time named it one of the 100 greatest video games of all time. The Los Angeles Times listed the game as one of the most “influential” works of the Star Wars expanded universe and in Game Informer’s Top 200 of all time, “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” ranked 54th.
