Fans of Marvel superheroine Squirrel Girl can now celebrate because she will soon be on television screens. Marvel TV and ABC are joining hands for a Squirrel Girl TV Series. She will appear in Marvel’s New Warrior series. New Warriors are often referred to as the junior version of Avengers.

Squirrel Girl TV series tried to find its way into existence in the TV world for years. Now it looks like it is finally happening. There have been numerous false starts along the way, but the studios recently confirmed that the character will be at the center of attention in a New Warriors comedy series.

Doreen Green, popularly known as Squirrel Girl, became a global craze in the past few years.  Thus, Marvel and ABC are planning to add her to their New Warriors. The character’s popularity could certainly add some high viewership ratings for the show.

Based on its source material, Squirrel Girl is someone who could communicate with the world’s huge squirrel population. She is also blessed with super-speed and strength. Squirrel Girl made headlines recently when Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick expressed a desire to play the bold character on the big screen, reports TV Line.

However, there’s no word yet on whether Kendrick will portray the character on TV.

New Warriors is a team of Marvel’s young superheroes. The team includes Firestar, Marvel Boy, Namorita, Nova and Speedball Night Thrasher. They serve as a junior counterpart to The Avengers in much the same way that the New Mutants/X-Force did with the X-Men.

Although there is no official word from Marvel and ABC Studios yet, relevant sources reveal that the half-hour project (New Warriors) could go to cable and streaming outlets.
