Iron Man will be joining Marvel’s favourite wall crawler in his upcoming solo movie. This has been earlier confirmed by actor Robert Downey Jr. himself. But will Spider Man be joined by another iconic Avenger? Will Captain America really be popping into “Spider-Man: Homecoming?”
This has yet to be confirmed by Marvel Studios. However, if actor Chris Evans had his way, this rogue Avenger might just appear in future “Spider Man” movies. MTV UK recently asked Evans which movie he wants Cap to join in. “Maybe the next Spider-Mans. Those are going to be fantastic,” the actor said.
Spider-Man and Captain America have already shared the big screen recently. They fought on opposite sides of the “Captain America: Civil War” movie. But Evans still thinks it might be fun for these characters to work with each other. “I think Tom [Holland]’s just a great actor,” he said. “So that might be a fun one to pop up into.”
Evans also considered the “Guardians of the Galaxy” sequel. But he figured a “Spider Man” movie would be a better fit for his character. “Guardians would be fun, wouldn’t it?” the actor said. “But it’s very outer spacey. Cap’s more of an Earth bound guy.”
Screen Rant does not seem to be a big fan of Evans’ suggestion, though. The film blog does admit “it would be great from a marketing standpoint.” But the site thinks it might steal too much focus from Peter Parker. “[His solo movie] hopes to reestablish Spider-Man as a top-tier Marvel hero,” the film blog said. “Marvel might be better served to avoid distracting fans from Parker’s story by adding in another top-tier hero.”
Contract issues might also be a possible source of concern. Evans, Screen Rant pointed out, only has one film left on his current Marvel deal.
