“Spider-Man: Homecoming” star Tom Holland is reportedly eyeing a Filipino actress to be his leading lady in his upcoming movie.

According to Yibada, Filipino actress Liza Soberano has been rumored to be playing Mary Jane Watson in “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

“I would love that. That would be a nice opportunity,” Soberano told ABS-CBN News. However, when asked if she does get an offer to play the character, the young actress revealed that there was no offer from Marvel for her to star in the upcoming Marvel movie. Soberano added that it was only her fans who suggested the idea, which made it trending on social media.

“I think it’s just what the fans wanted. All my fans started re-tweeting and everything. But I never actually get the invitation,” Soberano explained.

Marvel has yet to give details on who will play Mary Jane Watson in “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” So far, the characters that have been confirmed to appear in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” movie are: Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Aunt Mary (Marisa Tomei), Michelle (Zendaya) and Manuel (Tony Revolori). There were also rumors that “Birdman” actor Michael Keaton will also be joining the cast.

Holland made his debut as Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man, in the recent “Captain America: Civil War.” The Russo brothers recently explained to Screen Rant what made them decide to pick Holland as Spider-Man. “As important as it is to capture the essence of the character on an emotional level, there’s an incredible physicality to these characters. So to see a kid who is a gymnast, and you know you’re going to be digitally mapping to his movements…to have somebody who can move that way, it’s [expletive] invaluable,” Joe Russo said.

Even Captain America himself, Chris Evans, was impressed by Holland as he remembered the young star when he auditioned for the role. “As the scene opens, [the script] says ‘Spider-Man flips in and lands.’ And Tom was really like, ‘Should I do that?’… Marvel doesn’t want to see this kid break his neck, so everyone from [the studio] was like, ‘Don’t! Don’t!’ And Joe just started salivating, ‘Just do it!’ And he did it — and stuck it!” actor Evans told Entertainment Weekly.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” is set to roll in theaters in July 2017.
