Apple’s next launch event is drawing near and we’re expecting the company to unveil both the purported 4-inch iPhone 5se and the much-awaited iPad Air 3. That may seem to be the natural order of things for Cupertino, but if the latest leak is anything to go by, the company may launch a smaller variant of the iPad Pro.

Engadget received an image from a reliable source regarding a dimensional drawing of the purported tablet. The next iPad will come with a set of features that we’ve seen with the original iPad Pro. According to Engadget, there are quad speakers to deliver powerful audio performance, as well as a Smart Connector on the side for compatibility with its own “smart” accessories. The leak would work hand in hand with the earlier Pencil support rumour. Furthermore, the image also suggests that the iPad, finally, will be outfitted with an LED flash to please those who use their tablets as their daily drivers for photography.

However, Apple equipping the iPad Air 3 with such features will also come with a trade-off. Based on the dimensions listed on the image, the iPad Air will be 0.05mm thicker and 0.1mm wider than the iPad Air 2. The difference is there, albeit one that’s slightly noticeable.

Previously, Apple made some slight adjustments with the iPhone 6s as compared with the non “s” variants of the device. Engadget notes that while existing soft cases for the iPad Air 2 may fit the new tablet, hard cases may do some damage. Of course, there’s the new LED flash that you have to take into consideration if you’re planning to use the LED flash or enjoy the upgraded speaker set. There’s also a set of leaked images for the iPad Air 3’s case, which appeared from Alibaba, so that at least puts some integrity on the drawing.
