Shia LaBeouf’s art gig inside an elevator turned violent and involved a fan.

The actor and two other members of his art collective participated in his newest performance art piece Friday at England’s Oxford University.

According to The New York Times, they spent 24 hours in an Oxford elevator after the student union asked him to give a talk to the well-regarded university on Saturday. In addition to the talk, he chose to hole up inside a cramped elevator to which fans will have the opportunity to line up and spend a few minutes asking anything they like.

The social experiment, titled #ELEVATE, was broadcasted via YouTube livestream. However, things got weird when a student entered the elevator and asked the actor a favor, People magazine wrote.

“I’m a performance artist,” said the fan, identified as student Oscar Plomer-Roberts. He added, “Can you help me with the completion of my next piece by punching me in the face?”

The “Transformer” star did not seem eager to comply and when he still didn’t launch his fist, the student told him, “Do it. Don’t be a p—y,” as the group inside the elevator burst into giggles.

When LaBeouf continued to hesitate, the student suggested, “Alright, slap then at least.” Roberts then reminded everyone that “this is the man who gave himself two scars [for a film].”

“I’ll do it to myself but I don’t like doing it to you, dude,” LaBeouf responded. “I just met you.”

Seconds later, the doors of the elevator soon closed though the slap is audible, Entertainment Tonight wrote.

According to Oxford’s student-run newspaper Cherwell, the student asked the actor to hit him because he thought the star might be “bored.”

This is not the first time LaBeouf has been involved in unusual art projects. He was part of #ALLMYMOVIES where he watched every film he starred in while fans tracked his reactions on livestream and the #IAMSORRY where he sat in silence a gallery in Los Angeles with a paper bag over his head, People noted.

LaBeouf also made headlines in July 2015 when he admitted that he “would have killed” girlfriend Mia Goth if he stayed a while longer with him after their huge fight in Germany and the video of their argument became public.
