Sherlock season 4 could get hotter as more clues point to the possible role of Tom Hiddleston in the series.

Sources hinted early on at the possibility that Tom Hiddleston would join the cast of Sherlock season 4. The rumor mill certainly started running once series co-creator Mark Gatiss expressed interest to work with the actor. At the time, speculations pointed to Hiddleston’s likely role as the third brother of the titular character. Perhaps, Sherlock’s hot brother would be an apt description.

Gatiss certainly had tongues wagging at the San Diego Comic-Con recently. Could his tweet and the picture that came along with it possibly provide significant proof to substantiate the rumors?

Fans would recall that Gatiss also plays Mycroft, the other brother of Sherlock in the series. Hence, was the caption an indication of an on-screen relation with the Thor actor? Metro recalled the dialogue of Mycroft during the finale of season three as he hinted about their other brother.

“I’m not given to outbursts of brotherly compassion. You know what happened to the other one,” Mycroft said.
Gatiss shared yet another clue. This time with the help of Sherlock co-stars Amanda Abbington and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Fans scramble to figure out the significance of the names Thatcher and Smith to Sherlock season 4. However, the name Sherrinford on the card held by Cumberbatch likely points to the third brother as depicted in a fictional account of Sherlock’s life. To date, the production has yet to confirm if the Night Manager would join Sherlock season 4.

The addition of Tom Hiddleston could provide additional impetus for the show to keep going. Sources recently cited statements by series co-creator Steven Moffat who suggested that Sherlock season 4 might be the last.
