The first time “Scandal” handled the pregnancy of Kerry Washington, they just simply hid her behind every possible object on set. So is that the same plan they’re going to do for “Scandal” Season 6?
ABC has finally put fans’ minds to rest as to what will happen to Scandal Season 6 since Kerry Washington is pregnant with her second child.
ABC’s Entertainment President Channing Dungey revealed in a conference call on May 17 that Kerry Washington pregnancy forced the network to “make some adjustments.”
According to TV Line, that meant “Scandal” Season 6 would be moving to mid-season instead of returning in the fall as it has in the past. It will also be shortened just like when Kerry Washington was pregnant with her daughter during Season 3. “Scandal” Season 6 will be cut from 22 episodes to 16.
The show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, opted to not write about the pregnancy of Kerry Washington into the show, so Olivia had to hide behind Prada bags and big lamps for the majority of the season.
In an interesting turn of events, just as the plans for Scandal Season 6 were revealed by ABC, Kerry Washington decided to take a social media break, as reported by Gossip Cop. Kerry Washington took to Instagram earlier to reveal that she will be taking a hiatus from all social media. The notoriously private star shared a very heartfelt and honest message with her fans.
“It’s time for me to take a teeny break from social media. Feeling called to be a bit more quiet and still. Not sure how long it’ll last but don’t worry, I’ll be back soon enough. This space has become such a community. I’m very grateful. Thank you! I’ll be thinking of you and I’m sending love to you wherever you are… #MermaidGram”
News of her second pregnancy broke right before the 2016 Met Gala. Kerry Washington confirmed her pregnancy by flaunting her baby bump in a gorgeous black dress at the event.
