Coach Aurelio Vidmar named his 23-man squad for next month’s AFC U-23 Championship, to be held in Doha from Jan. 14 to Jan. 30. The squad has been named for the final round of qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games.

“We have put together an exciting squad that includes some players with Socceroos experience and also illustrates the strength of the Hyundai A-League and its position as a true pathway for national team footballers,” said coach Aurelio Vidmar, as per Fourfourtwo.

According to the Age, A-League Champions and Premiers Melbourne Victory will be the hardest hit as they lose five players to the Olyroos squad. According to the coach 12 players have been selected from the National Competition and the A-League clubs. He also congratulated the coaches of the respective clubs for their key involvement.
