PlayStation gamers, here is the rundown on PS4 Neo vs PS4. As PlayStation releases a new iteration of the much loved console, we give you the details you need to know in order to decide which one you should get.
PS4 Neo is said to be pushing 4K/UltraHD resolution, Tech Insider reports. That’s four more times clearer and better than what the current PS4 is capable of doing. Neo is also considered to be marketed to 4K TV owners to take advantage of the resolution.
PS4 Neo x Virtual Reality
Aside from the ultra high definition specs, PS4 Neo will also support PlayStation Virtual Reality headset. Keeping your gaming experience more palpable, be prepared to lose a bit of your grasp between reality and the game.
PS4 Neo vs PS4 specs
Slightly faster than PS4, PS4 Neo will have its CPU run at 8 Jaguar Cores at 2.1 GHz as opposed to PS4’s 8 Jaguar Cores at 1.6 GHz. Its GPU is also improved with the bandwidth higher for an “increased and more stable frame rate and higher visual fidelity,” Giant Bomb notes. Sony has also repeatedly reminded its developers that the frame rate must exceed the current frame rate of PS4.
PS4 Neo vs PS4 Game Library
Giant Bomb further notes that games that will be released starting October will have two modes, “Base Mode” and “Neo mode” to prepare for the upcoming console. Though PS4 Neo game owners need not worry about the range of titles available for them to play. Game titles need not be Neo native in order to be played with the console. In the end, PS4 and PS Neo will share the same game library.
PS4 Neo vs PS4 Price
Of course, PS4 Neo will fetch a heftier price than PS4. However, Sony has yet to release its price. While PS4 is currently selling at $350 (AU$479), PS4 Neo may have a slightly higher price.
PS4 Neo Release
Though there’s no official word yet on the release, Tech Insider hypothesizes it might be due for a release around the holidays this 2016. With the games required to sport the Base and Neo modes as early as October, the holidays may be a ripe time for the PS4 Neo release.
