The Fox River State Penitentiary escapees are back in the highly-anticipated midseason return of Prison Break. Fox released the official trailer for the six-episode event series, and it left fans’ minds blown.
In the new Prison Break trailer, clues suggest that Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) was thought to be dead. His brother, Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell), tracks him down overseas where he is imprisoned. Lincoln, together with the original Prison Break cast, devises a breakout plan for Michael.
The trailer also gives a touching moment between Michael’s wife Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies) and their son in which they talk about his father.
“He was like a storm appearing suddenly out of a clear blue sky and then disappear just as quickly,” Sara tells the young boy about his father, Michael.
Speaking to TV Line, Fox CEO Dana Walden reveals that the reboot is “a bit of a sequel” which picks up several years after the events in the final episode in season 4. As to the explanation for Michael’s return, Walden adds the plot point in 2009’s Prison Break: The Final Break will be ignored and the reason why he is still alive is “very logical and believable.”
Original Prison Break cast members Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Paul Adelstein, and Rockmond Dumbar also return, Deadline reports.
The adrenaline high, emotionally-charged Prison Break renewal is scheduled for a Thursday 9:00 p.m. timeslot. Fox promises to bring back everything fans loved about the original Prison Break series. Indeed, the teaser already hints of a tearjerker reunion between Michael and Lincoln.

Meanwhile, the formidable tag team of Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell continues beyond the Prison Break TV show. The two joins forces as villains Captain Cold and Heatwave in The Flash, after which they make the big shift from evil to good in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow in which they are part of the lead ensemble.
