Leicester will host the visiting Manchester City side at the King Power Stadium in Leicester in their English Premier League campaign on Tuesday, Dec. 29, starting 7.45 PM GMT.
Leicester’s supremacy in the league so far has been toppled by Arsenal yesterday and Manchester City moved to fourth place in the league table. Leicester now stand second as per the league rankings.
As per the BBC reports, big news for Leicester is that both it’s leading scorers, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, are fit to play against Manchester City. Speculations arose over their fitness after they were substituted at Anfield against the Liverpool.
The boxing day match wasn’t so rewarding for Leicester as they lost to Liverpool 1-0. Some late action did bring back the hopes for Leicester but eventually settled for a loss.
In an unfortunate news for Manchester City, Captain Vincent Kompany has been ruled out due to a calf injury. Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero will be back in action.
Manchester City thumped Sunderland 4-1 last Saturday, notes Team Talk.
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is not taking the game lightly. He was quoted as saying, “We must consider Leicester a team that will have options to be fighting for the title until the end.”
“They are top of the table because they deserve to be. They have important players in a very good moment.”
Jamie Vardie remains the top scorer this season till now with 15 goals to his name. Leicester has been in terrific form this season and their dream of winning the title is taking shape.
Manchester City will have to give in extra effort to gain an upper hand over the second placed Leicester to move up the table.
