The Power Rangers reboot is going to be “different” and somewhat “unrecognizable,” at least according to the actor who voiced two characters in the original TV series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston revealed that the reboot of the famous 80’s TV series will be having a new re-imagined version.

Cranston gave voice to Snizzard and the Twin Man in the first season of the original TV series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers back in the day. This time, he will be playing the role of Zordon of Eltar, the mentor of the Rangers.

The mighty #Zordon has officially been cast! Please welcome #BryanCranston to the #PowerRangersMovie – Coming in 2017.

In an interview with Huffington Post, Cranston has revealed that he had initial concerns about the story of the “Power Rangers” reboot.  His fear was suppressed though after going over the script and realizing how different it was from the original TV series.

“I wasn’t really high on it until I talked to the producer and read the script and talked to the director. After that I went, ‘This is different.'”

Cranston also mentioned the similarity of his upcoming movie to “The Dark Knight.” The “Breaking Bad” actor however assured that the tone of the MMPR  reboot will be lighter than DC’s “Dark Knight” since five teenagers will be main heroes in the movie. Cranston also stressed that the new Saba movie will introduce changes from the TV show we have seen in the 90’s.

Cranston was molded by it and heck the Blue Ranger was named after him, IGN wrote. So if Cranston is saying it is dark and different, let’s just say he’s entitled.

Aside from Cranston, actress Elizabeth Banks will also join the cast as Rita Repulsa.. The Rangers will be played by Becky G (Yellow Ranger), Ludi Lin (Black Ranger), Naomi Scott (Pink Ranger), RJ Cyler (Blue Ranger), and Dacre Montgomery (Red Ranger).

The Saban and Lionsgate movie earlier unveiled the Rangers’ super-heroic costumes.  The new costumes are more futuristic than before. The Mighty Rangers in the 90’s wore body-hugging outfits. Now, the modern Rangers have costumes are even shinier and of course, their animal-themed helmet.

The Power Rangers movie will premiere in 2017.
