Power Rangers, the teenage fictional flick is returning to theaters in 2017 through Saban and Lionsgate. After the logo, story and cast now the brands have revealed an official photo of the Rangers’ coolest super-heroic costumes.  It is reported to be a cinematic reboot of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers property that the franchise began with back in 1993.

The new Power Rangers’ costumes are more futuristic than before. Earlier, the Mighty Rangers used to wear body-hugging outfits. Now the modern take on the costumes has made them more practical, without spoiling the original general aesthetic. These costumes are now even shinier. The team has completed the look of each of the Rangers with their respective dinosaur or prehistoric animal-themed helmet and visor shape, something that their MMPR predecessors have. However, there is a slight modification in the costumes of pink and yellow rangers. These two female superheroes will be seen in platform boots and “boob armor” plates, reports Screenrant.

Director Dean Israelite, in his interview with EW, clarified the logic behind the Power Rangers’ varying armor designs: “The show was about kids coming of age, about metamorphosis. These suits needed to feel like they were catalyzed by these kids and their energy, their spirit.”

Power Rangers production designer Andrew Menzies, who worked on such films as G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Fury in the past, further explained on the thought-process behind the Power Rangers’ costumes in the 2017 movie reboot, “It’s tricky finding a new language for a superhero costume. Ours is an alien costume that grows on them, that’s not man-made. You can’t win everyone over, but we are trying to appeal to a more mature audience and gain new fans.”

This is the era when the movie studios and teams are greatly focused on detailing. We have seen our superheroes ruling the screen in their impressively high definition costumes. Thus, it won’t be wrong to expect that the contemporary version of the Power Rangers’ outfits will reflect the individual character’s “energy” and “spirit” with utmost perfection.

The main cast of the film includes Dacre Montgomery as Jason, RJ Cyler as Billy, Naomi Scott as Kimberly, Becky G as Trini, Ludi Lin as Zack, and Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa.
