It seems we are going to wait a little longer before we get to see the Barden Bellas in the movie screens again as Universal Pictures has just announced that it will be moving “Pitch Perfect 3” from its initial release date in the summer of 2017 to Christmas season of the same year.

The cast of the movie is not yet complete, as only Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow and Hailee Steinfeld have confirmed that they will be returning. Previous cast members who have not yet announced if they will return are Adam DeVine, Alexis Knapp, Anna Camp, Ester Dean and Skylar Astin.

Originally set for theatrical release on July 21, 2017, “Pitch Perfect 3” will now debut in cinema circuits on December 22, 2017, reported. The film will now be in direct competition with the Mark Wahlberg-starring “The Six Billion Dollar Man,” the animated sequel “The Croods 2” and to a certain extent, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” which comes out a week before “Pitch Perfect 3.”

First released in 2012, the original acapella musical film exceeded expectations and became a sleeper hit. The franchise is well known for being responsible for making Kendrick and Wilson household names. It also produced a successful OST album and a hit single in “Cups,” sung by Kendrick. The sequel, released in 2015, became the highest-grossing live action movie-musical in box office history.

Kendrick and Wilson will be busy in the coming months as Wilson is rumored to be in negotiations for a possible Adele biopic while Kendrick’s recent duet with Justin Timberlake may suggest that the “Up in the Air” actress may now be taking singing seriously.

According to Screenrant, just like the first sequel, “Pitch Perfect 3” will be directed by Elizabeth Banks with Banks and Max Handelman of Brownstone Productions and Paul Brooks of Gold Circle Entertainment serving as producers. Kay Cannon will write the screenplay.
