Pia Wurtzbach’s successor, newly-crowned Binibining Pilipinas 2016 Maxine Medina, has been compared to Filipino actor Coco Martin but only because of their similar facial features.
Netizens noticed the resemblance of the actor and the beauty queen and many shared their photos on social media, Manila Bulletin reported. This also became the trending topic on Twitter.
Aside from congratulatory messages for Medina, collages of the reigning Miss Universe Philippines and Martin dressed as his undercover character in ABS-CBN’s soap also made rounds on Facebook and Twitter. Some even commented that Paloma, Martin’s undercover character, won the title and that the two are “twins.”
Check out some tweets posted stating how the two look alike.

Does Maxine Medina look like a boy? Or, is it Martin who looks more like a girl?
On Sunday, Medina reigned as the most beautiful among the 39 other candidates of Binibining Pilipinas and has been crowned as Miss Universe Philippines by Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
Wurtzbach flew in last week from New York to attend the Binibining Pilipinas pageant and pass on her crown. She got emotional during her farewell speech at the pageant. She thanked those who helped her on her journey to achieve success in an international pageant. She also gives a piece of advice to her successor to give her best.
“Remember to give your best. Behind that beautiful gown, your knees might be trembling. Like me right now, I’m still not used to it. I’m still not used to it. Being in front of millions can be nerve wracking. You have to remember that you are wearing that sash that proudly says the Philippines. In your moment of doubt you, remember that you have the whole country cheering you on,” Pia Wurtzbach said.
Before the coronation night, Wurtzbach also shared an advised to whoever will win the crown to “take good care” of it, Inquirer noted.
Medina is set to compete in the Miss Universe 2016 pageant later this year. Wurtzbach earlier said she is also campaigning for the Miss Universe pageant to be held in the Philippines again.
