Gamers with a passion for mystery and horror are in for a treat because a new kind of adventure is on its way to PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One consoles.

Engadget reports that “The Park”, a thriller game about a child going missing in an amusement park, will be available for PS4 and Xbox One some time in early 2016. The game has previously been launched only for Windows PCs in October 2015.

The website quotes Funcom, the game’s developer, in saying that the move to the new platforms was “encouraged by the positive reactions [they] have received on the Windows PC version.”

Meanwhile, according to GameSpot, “The Park” will be “Funcom’s first console release in more than a decade.”

GameSpot reports that the last time Funcom had a console release was back in 2006 when it produced “Dreamfall: The Longest Journey”. Funcom is also the developer behind other games like “Age of Conan” and “The Secret World”.

In terms of the game’s basic appeal, The Sixth Axis quotes Funcom CEO Rui Casais in saying: “Exploring a dark, sinister and frankly terrifying location from the comfort of your sofa, with the lights turned off and controller in hand, is sure to be a very rewarding experience.”

The Sixth Axis disagrees with the part where the CEO describes the game as a rewarding experience; rather, the website offers that Casais could have possibly meant “pant wetting, nightmare inducing experience.”

If you are curious as to what the game is all about, The Sixth Axis says that players will be taking on the role of Lorraine, mother of the child who went missing at the Atlantic Island Park. Players can experience firsthand the inner thoughts of worried parent, try on the rides and uncovering the whole mystery while calling out to the missing son.

Although no concrete release date has been provided, reports agree that “The Park” will come out in the first quarter of 2016.
