The OnePlus 3 release date is believed to be set for June 14. With the help of its own VR Loop headset, the high-tech unveiling of the smartphone is said to set a benchmark. The all new OnePlus 3 will be announced in the immersive virtual world, confirmed the company.

The successor to the OnePlus 2 has already passed through US certification site FCC (Federal Communications Commission). The OnePlus 3 has also been certified by Chinese telecommunications regulatory authority TENNA, indicating an imminent release of the device.

Design and Display

Rumors are rife that the upcoming OnePlus 3 will come packed with a metallic design and overhauled specs and features. With a Full HD 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution screen, the smartphone will sport a 5.5-inch display.

Prevailing rumors suggest that the new OnePlus 3 will be shipped with a fingerprint scanner embedded in its home button.

Processor and Storage

Based on the RAM and internal storage capacity, the OnePlus 3 will arrive in two variants. The 32GB storage model will be paired with 4GB of RAM, whereas the 64GB variant will come packed with 6 GB of RAM.

Both the variants will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 chipset which includes a quad-core 2.15GHz CPU and Adreno 530 GPU for the graphics.

It is worth noting that the OnePlus 2 is powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor. It is also shipped with two different RAM configurations – 3GB and 4GB paired with 16GB and 64GB internal storage respectively.

The OnePlus 3 will house a generous 3,000mAh battery to keep the lights on. The battery unit of the device has been downsized as compared to its predecessor hosting a 3,300mAh battery.

The device will reportedly come with Google’s latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system pre-installed. OnePlus 3 is also expected to arrive with a USB Type-C connector. Other connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth, USB and GPS.


Better known as the “2015 flagship killer,” the OnePlus 2 price started at US$349 (AU$480). The unannounced OnePlus 3 is said to be cheaper than its predecessor and said to arrive with a base price of 1999 yuan (AU$417) in China, reports Trusted Reviews.
