Harry Styles, the longhaired singer of One Direction, made the ultimate sacrifice and cut off his signature ponytail for charity. However, Directioners are upset and they’re not holding back their reactions.
Harry Styles hinted about his recent haircut via his latest Instagram post, the Independent reported. Styles cut off his hair for the benefit of the Little Princess Trust. The British charity accepts hair donations and transforms it into real hair wigs for children who suffer with hair loss due to cancer treatments.
This means that one lucky child would soon be wearing a wig made from the superstar’s real hair, BBC remarked.
His photo only showed the lopped off ponytail with a thumbs up. The caption of his pic read “Whoops” along with the hashtag #Littleprincesstrust.
Although it was for a noble cause, his post sparked a social media frenzy. One Direction fans who were stricken with fear and sadness became vocal about it. With more than 300,000 comments to his Instagram post, the reaction is of overwhelming grief for the loss, the Sydney Morning Herald revealed. Fan posts on Twitter were similar with the hashtag #RIPHarrysHair trending across the globe, the publication noted.
To date, many are waiting for Harry Styles to post a selfie to see how he looks without his signature locks, the publication noted. Although one fan surmised that Styles himself would likely be shocked by his reflection. While another fan got into the details about how much he had cut off.

SMH noted that Styles’ motive was philanthropic. To thanks Styles for his support of #hairtospare, the Little Princess Trust posted their appreciation on their website. They revealed the One Direction singer was the one who reached out to them.
“We are grateful to anyone who decides to do good things for us, Harry Styles’ high profile however helps raise awareness about the charity too,” their message read.
Harry Styles is pursuing individual interests during the One Direction hiatus. In particular, he’s focused his on an acting career. He landed his first film role in Christopher Nolan’s World War 2 movie, “Dunkirk”. Rumours also suggest the singer could be joining “Teen Wolf” or “Scream Queens.”
