Drew may be suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome as he flies home from Afghanistan, The Night Shift Season 3 episode 3 spoilers suggest.
It must be recalled that Drew flew to Afghanistan instead of going to South Carolina for a job during the episode, The Times They Are A Changin’. This was the time when Jennifer Beals was introduced as the partner of Drew. He immediately realized what he’s in for when a gunman barged into the hospital.
The synopsis teases from Spoiler TV on The Night Shift Season 3 episode 3 offered spoilers as it says that Drew “can’t seem to shake off the stress of being back overseas.”
His issues were brought up to the surface when he, along with Kenny (JR Lemon) and Jordan (Jill Flint), treats a bride (Lindsey Morgan) as well as her wedding party and things don’t go as planned. Then there’s the bride’s father who only adds to the stress.
“Meanwhile, TC (Eoin Macken) helps Topher (Ken Leung) entertain his demanding mother, whose extended visit is putting stress on the family. Scott Wolf, Robert Bailey Jr. and Tanaya Beatty also star,” the synopsis added.
Previously, it was reported by Enstarz that Jeananne Goossen and Freddy Rodriguez won’t be reprising their roles as Krista and Ragosa, respectively, in The Night Shift Season 3.
However, Jennifer Beals, who plays Dr. Syd Jennings, and Tanaya Beatty, who plays Dr. Shannon Rivera, have been added to the cast. Jennings is introduced just as Drew was deployed to Afghanistan.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported about Beatty’s casting. Her character just graduated from medical school and volunteered to provide service inside a reservation clinic. Her quick wit impressed Jordan who then asked the new doctor to join her at San Antonio Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Rivera, meanwhile, has a very strong personality and is never afraid to speak her mind which may land her in some hot water, not just with her colleagues, but with the hospital’s administration as well.
Watch out for more spoilers for The Night Shift as episode 3 airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. on NBC.
