Amidst the onslaught of touchscreen smartphones in the markets across the globe, Samsung is gearing up to launch a flip phone, referred to as the Galaxy Golden 3.

The device made its appearance on GFXBench where the specs of the handset was leaked; this gives quite a clear picture of what to expect.

On the other hand, BlackBerry also announced last month its plans to launch Priv, the device with a slide-out keyboard.

With Galaxy Golden 3 and Priv soon to be arriving, it appears that much like most fashion statements, the age of flip-phones and slide-out keyboards will be making a comeback. Of course, these devices will arrive embedded with touchscreens too!

It will be interesting to see whether there would be other players who will jump in announcing such devices.

As for now, eyes are set on the Galaxy Golden 3. Sporting a 4.6-inch touchscreen, the handset houses a mean Exynos 7 Octa-core chipset, which happens to be its best feature.

Eyebrows must have risen at the 4.6-inch display spec, since it does seem unlikely on a flip-phone. Phone Arena suggests that there may have been an error on the leaked result. But taking a cue from its predecessors, the Galaxy Golden 3 may sport two AMOLED displays.

The memory on the device reads out to be 2.6 GB, while the storage is 56 GB. The front-facing camera onboard is 4.7 MP, while the primary snapper is 15 MP with resolutions of 5312 x 2988 and basics in tow.

There is no word yet on the release date and specs.  And it appears that besides, China, the device may also be launched in India. The details on the pricing have not been revealed but users are looking to get their hands on a flip-phone should keep coming back for more information.

It isn’t known yet whether the phone will be made available in US, but it appears to be quite unlikely.
