After a quick hiatus after Thanksgiving, NCIS Season 14 Episode 9 is finally airing this Tuesday. “Pay to Play” tackles some politics as the team investigates threats on Congresswoman Jenna Fleming played by guest star Mary Stuart Masterson.
According to spoilers shared by Cartermatt, one of the Congresswoman’s aides will seek help from NCIS. He reveals that there are a series of very serious threats against Fleming, and he thinks that something terrible might actually happen.
Before anything untoward could befall the Congresswoman, NCIS jumps into action. Things become more interesting when the aide reveals that Fleming herself, didn’t want to seek help from the FBI, or anybody for that matter.
In effect, the aide is covertly seeking help from NCIS behind Fleming’s back. The Congresswoman appears to want to take care of her problems on her own, The sneak peek reveals why:
It appears that Fleming is concerned about the sexist nature of the political world. A woman seeking protection could be perceived as a weak politician. Ego aside, she does need some help. Special Agent Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the rest of the NCIS team will have to work discreetly to help her.
Aside from the current case, the NCIS Season 14 team is still reeling from the departure of Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly). The show continues to be at the center of cancellation speculations, despite continuing to draw viewers.
To add interest, the current season has played heavily on the personal life of Special Agent Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham). She is now dating someone new, after her divorce was featured in the previous season.
Wilmer Valderrama and Jennifer Esposito have joined the cast as Agents Nick Torres and Alex Quinn. Could the current cast hold it together? Only time will tell.
NCIS Season 14 Episode 9 “Pay to Play” airs Tuesday at 8:00 pm ET on CBS.
