NCIS Los Angeles Season 8 got off to a very rough start. While ratings for the show looked good during the season premiere, Things were not going so well for the characters in the show. Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) and Henrietta Lange (Linda Hunt) are both in grave danger albeit of different kinds.
Episode 3 is titled A Queen’s Gambit, and according to the synopsis shared by TV.com, the team would still have to operate without both Kensi and Hetty. “The team investigates an abduction case while down two members, with Hetty being held in Washington, D.C., for questioning in the mole probe, and another still in ICU following the mission in Syria,” said the summary.
Episodes 1 and 2 were aired back-to-back as a two-hour Season 8 premiere. Titled High-Value Target and Belly of the Beast respectively, the first two episodes were full of problems for the NCIS Los Angeles team.
First of all, the entire team is under investigation and is under threat of being fired. The presence of a mole in the agency has prompted a hands-on investigation and takeover by Secretary of Defense Corbin Duggan.
The team decided to go rogue against Duggan, in order to pursue a terrorist that they had been tracking. Agents G Callen (Chris O’Donnel) Sam Hanna (LL Cool J), Marty Deeks and Kensi Blye went on an unauthorized mission in Syria to retrieve the target. Unfortunately, the helicopter that they were on got ambushed by a rocket launcher.
Kensi ended up getting critically injured in the crash. They fell under attack by terrorists and Owen Granger had to make the difficult decision to authorize a drone airstrike under Duggan’s name. They manage to save the team, but Hetty decides to take the fall for the unauthorized strike.
While Deeks had bought a ring and brought up the subject of marriage to Kensi, they are not officially engaged. Before they went to Syria, she had expressed her reservations about starting a family. Deeks however, was determined to convince her and had started to call her his fiancee. If she survives her injuries, could it catapult her into his arms or further away?
