The latest NBA news as of Monday is that Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready to sign a contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks.  This extension may have come after Antetokounmpo’s outstanding third season with the team. The new deal reportedly averages around $25M every year. The amount is actually a little below the maximum that is allowed under NBA salary rules. This means that the the star forward will be receiving approximately $100M in over four years.

Giannis  Antetokoumpo was born in 1994 to a Nigerian immigrant couple in Athens. He started playing basketball in 2007, and then earned regular starting position in the youth category at Filathlitikos in 2009. He joined Milwaukee after being selected as 15th overall during the NBA 2013 draft.

Now 21, the giant forward appeared in 80 games in the last NBA season and scored an average of 16.9 points, 4.3 assists, 1.4 blocks and 7.7 rebounds.  He holds a record in NBA history as the first player to score triple-doubles for five times in one season. He currently ranks third in the all-time list of the Bucks for triple-doubles as well. In his 238 games, Antetokoumpo’s career averages are 12.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists. He has improved his averages in every NBA season that he has played.

Fans and fellow Milwaukee Bucks players are thrilled over this latest NBA news. They immediately took to Twitter to send their good wishes to the Greek international after finding out that he is about ready to ink the contract with Milwaukee.  Point Guard Matthew Dellavedova says he can’t wait to get out there on the court with him. For Milwaukee Senior VP Alexander Lasry, there’s no better guy, teammate or worker. “Incredible news for us today,” tweeted Lasry.

A press conference will be held tomorrow afternoon at the new Wisconsin Entertainment and Sports Center where the contract is expected to be finalized.
