The mystery was finally revealed and as had been widely predicted the Motorola May 17 event did indeed bring out the Motorola Moto G 2016 lineup for the world to see.
The Moto G has quintessentially been a budget-friendly device that has been long appreciated by loyalists. However, many may have been anxious with what was under wraps this time around. As product cycles go, the 2016 Moto G happens to be the first in the series for Lenovo since the company took the reins of Motorola.
As reported by Engadget, the Moto G4, the Moto G4 Plus and the Moto G4 Play were unveiled by the company. While the Moto G4, the Moto G4 Plus appear to play the role of good siblings, the Moto G4 Play shows off a whole different spec range.
The Moto G4, the Moto G4 Plus possess a 1080p 5.5-inch display and come powered by the Snapdragon 617 octa-core chipset with either 2GB or 4GB RAM. So, the standard Moto G4 variant will house a 2GB RAM with 16GB onboard storage. On the other hand, the Moto G4 Plus will feature 4GB for models with 32GB and 128GB storage. However, the 16GB variant, just like its sibling comes with 2GB RAM.
Motorola Moto G fans may surely miss the front-facing stereo speakers since the device now only has one speaker on the top. The Moto G4 and G4 Plus come with a big 3,000mAh battery with fast charging capability. The camera on the Plus model is a 16MP primary one while the standard variant has a 13MP snapper. Both feature a 5MP front-facing imager that is customizable, thanks to the Moto Maker service.
As for the more affordable member of the lineup, the Moto G Play sports a 5-inch 720p display as noted by The Verge. The handset hides a Snapdragon 410 processor with 2GB RAM under the hood and comes with 8GB and 16GB storage options.
The Motorola Moto G and Moto G Plus have released in Brazil and the Moto G Plus has made its way to India. However, folks in the US will have to wait until “mid-summer” for the Moto G range and the UK can expect the devices sometime in June.
