Tim Burton’s “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” released its first trailer. The critically acclaimed novel of the same name by American author Ransom Riggs is the basis for the movie. Fans of the book are likely eager to find out if the screen adaptation stayed true to its story.

Based on the movie’s initial trailer, it’s evident that changes were made to the story, Variety reported. As shown, Emma’s character wields air. However, in the book, she is a fire starter. Emma has the power to make fire with her hands, The Peculiar Children Wikia noted.

Variety also pointed out the closer friendship between Jacob and Olive instead of Emma.

As a result, fans of the book are concerned. Many were not happy with the changes. They expressed their discontent on Twitter, IBTimes reported.

Riggs watched the movie version of his work earlier this month. He went on Twitter to express his excitement over it. The author himself was quick to defend the changes made for the movie. Riggs also assured fans that the trailer did not show everything about the movie yet.

Early on, he affirmed his trust in director Tim Burton’s vision.

The story of “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” will follow Jacob’s quest to learn more about his grandfather’s life, IBTimes revealed. In his search, he comes across the house of Miss Peregrine and its occupants who possess special talents.

Actress Eva Green plays the role of Miss Peregrine. Green also appears in the upcoming horror flick “Penny Dreadful Season 3”.

Actor Asa Butterfield plays the role of Jacob. Butterfield also appears in the upcoming romantic sci-fi flick “Space Between Us”.

Joining Green and Butterfield are Samuel L. Jackson, Allison Janney, Dame Judi Dench, and more.
