Media mogul Rupert Murdoch and actress-model Jerry Hall announced their engagement in the births, marriages and deaths section of the Times newspaper, which is owned by Mr Murdoch’s News Corporation company.
According to BBC, it will be the fourth marriage for Mr Murdoch, 84, and the first for Miss Hall, 59, although she lived with singer Sir Mick Jagger for many years.
The classified ad read: “Mr Rupert Murdoch, father of Prudence, Elisabeth, Lachlan, James, Grace and Chloe Murdoch, and Miss Jerry Hall, mother of Elizabeth, James, Georgia and Gabriel Jagger are delighted to announce their engagement.”
The new relationship reportedly began in the summer. Australian-born Mr Murdoch, who now has US nationality, split up with his third wife Wendi Deng in 2013.
A spokesperson for the Murdoch family told MailOnline: “They have loved these past months together, are thrilled to be getting married and excited about their future.”
The newspaper adds that the loved-up pair got engaged over the weekend and they made a public declaration of their love when they were spotted arm-in-arm on the Golden Globes red carpet. There was no visible ring on Jerry’s hand as she walked the red carpet hand in hand with her man a the Beverly Hilton.
And once inside the award ceremony, the couple were lucky enough to share a table with some of Hollywood’s most illustrious stars, with Jerry being seated next to Best Actor in a Motion Picture nominee Matt Damon.
They met in Australia late last year when they were introduced by Murdoch’s niece, Penny Fowler, before making their relationship public at the rugby World Cup final in London in October.
Rupert Murdoch was first married to Patricia Booker, a former flight attendant from Melbourne. They had a daughter together and after 11 years of marriage, they split in 1966.
A year after the divorce, he married Glasgow-born journalist Anna Torv, who he met when she was working with a newspaper in Sydney and had the chance to interview him. The couple had three children together and remained married for more than 30 years until eventually splitting in 1999.
Just weeks after the divorce, Murdoch married Wendi Deng, from China, who he met while she was an intern at a TV station owned by News Corp, Murdoch’s company.
She was 38 years his junior and had previously been married to a man 30 years older than her.
