Fox has already pushed back the release date of Maze Runner: The Death Cure for almost a year. However, will fans have to wait a little while longer for the third and final installment of the young adult series? Below, we round up all the Maze Runner The Death Cure spoilers and details we know so far.
The premiere date for the last Maze Runner movie was originally February 17, 2017. However, the studio decided to move the release to January 2018 to give the movie’s star, Dylan O’Brien, time to fully recover. The actor sustained multiple injuries while performing a stunt on the set last March. Will he need more time to recuperate? Will producers have to delay the movie’s release further? Or will they now have to look for someone else to replace O’Brien as Thomas?
According to News Australia, no one has spotted the actor in public since his Maze Runner stunt accident in March. He has also been silent on social media for the longest time. His accident has already delayed production for the movie. Was the actor’s injuries worse than previously publicized? Does he need more time before he could get back on his feet? Will the movie have to go on without him? No word as of yet to confirm this.
Director Wes Ball previously assured fans that O’Brien was “going to be just fine” despite his injuries. Ball also said the actor would only need “a few weeks of rest and recovery” for him to be “be back up and running” to finish filming.
However, a month later, Fox officially announced that they’re further delaying principal photography for the movie. This suggests that O’Brien’s injuries might have been more extensive than Ball said. If everything goes according to plan, though, fans can look forward to the movie two years from now. Maze Runner: The Death Cure is supposed to hit the big screen on January 12, 2018.
